How To Select The Right Automobile Warranty, Whether You Are Buying New Or Second Hand

Basically, an automobile warranty is in essence insurance cover for your automobile. This is exactly what the manufacturers of new vehicles like to see, and the downside from the buyer's point of view is, of course, the large amount of money they lose over the years on depreciation.

Only recently, the market for new cars has experienced an increase boost, due to some manufacturers breaking almost all rules to provide a full five year guarantee with a new car. This does come with some strings attached, but it does nevertheless represent a massive leap of faith in the brand and its reliability. Even the strings which are attached really work out in the motorists favor. Although it can seem like a chore to keep written records proving that the vehicle has been serviced properly, it does help to keep the price down. The fact that you need to service the vehicle guards against irresponsible people claiming on the warranty for damage they could have prevented, and pushing the price up for everyone else.

Once the manufacturer's warranty has run out, you are left with the following options to either sell the car, take an extended warranty from your dealer, or buy insurance cover from a third party. If you do choose the dealer option, you will probably get a good deal, but be aware that the dealer is making a commission on the deal, so can never be completely impartial. If you go to a third party, however, you will need to carry out a lot of research to make sure that you are dealing with a solid supplier of an automobile warranty.
